Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon
Mr Andrea Scala is an NHS Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon at the Royal Surrey Foundation Trust in Guildford. Graduating from Federico II University of Naples, his journey culminated in advanced post-graduate training in the esteemed London Deanery, earning accolades with the National ACPGBI Fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery. Mr Scala has over a decade of experience as a Consultant Surgeon, with a proven record of exceptional patient care.
His expertise includes all aspects of general surgery, excelling in minimally invasive treatments for both malignant and benign conditions of the colon and rectum. He utilises advanced techniques in addressing locally advanced pelvic malignancies, laparoscopic hernia surgeries, and intricate abdominal wall reconstructions. Mr Scala is highly skilled in keyhole and robotic surgery for which he utilises the da Vinci surgical system.
Mr Scala is a regular faculty member at the MATTU (Royal College of Surgeons certified Minimal Access Therapy Training Unit in Guildford, Surrey) showcasing his proficiency through lectures and live demonstrations.
Mr Scala is a JAG accredited endoscopist for the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program. He is the Clinical Director of the Endoscopy Service and the Colorectal Cancer MDT lead at the Royal Surrey County Hospital. Mr Scala is also the lead surgeon for the Surrey Anal Cancer network.
